Short CV:

Dimitris Zianis obtained his BSc in Forestry (TEI Kavalas, 1997), and pursued MSc studies in Forest Management (University of Aberdeen, UK, 1999) and PhD research in Forestry (University of Edinburgh UK, 2003). He was a research fellow in METLA (2003), in TEI Kavalas (2005), in AUTH (2006), in MAICh (2006-present), in FRI (2009) and in AUTH (2013). He involved in a FP 7 project (CEUBIOM) contracted by MAICh and he obtained a fellowship from IKY (1998).

He delivered undergraduate and postgraduate cources in Forest Ecology and Management in the University of Edinburgh (2000-2003), in TEI of Drama (2005) and in MAICh (2007-2008). He has published 11 scientific papers in international journals, ten abstracts in scientific conferences and a chapter in a book.

His research interest is focused on the estimation of net ecosystem productivity of forest resources and he is currently using the following three approaches:

·         Analysis of trees and stands based on fractal geometry

·         Spatial modelling of abiotic factors that affect forest productivity

·         Mechanical implications of tree growth and development

He is also a reviewer in Forest Ecology and Management, Annals of Botany, Silva Fennica and Trees for articles related to forest biomass and productivity and on the application of fractal geometry in modeling structure and function of forested ecosystems.
