Dr. Vasiliki Kazantzi received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. Her Ph.D. research was in the field of process synthesis, property-based integration, optimization and sustainable design. She has a Master of Engineering from Texas A&M University and a B.S. from University of Thessaloniki, Greece, both in chemical engineering.

Dr. Kazantzi worked on several projects in the USA sponsored by federal and state agencies, as well as by the industry. She has also taught a number of courses at Texas A&M University, such as the senior design course, process design and integration, reactor design and optimization. In Greece, she worked for several years as a process engineer in the area of wastewater treatment plant design, and as an environmental consultant for regional, national and European projects. She coordinated several EU- and nationally sponsored programmes and was responsible for developing and managing initiatives at the Technology Park of Thessaly, Greece.

Today she holds an Associate Professor position at the Department of Business Administration in the Technological Institute of Thessaly, Greece, where she teaches several courses, such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics,  Risk Managment and Operations Management. Her research interests lie in the area of Productive Process Systems, Supply Chain and Logistics Management (Supply Chain Design, Planning and Optimization, Sustainable Operations, Safety and Control), and within the broader field of Synthesis, Optimization and Operation of Productive Process Systems.

She has published a number of refereed journal papers and conference proceedings, and presented her work in many conferences worldwide. She is also a reviewer in several scientific journals. She was awarded a number of fellowships and assistantships included the 1st Place Best Paper Award by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (Computing and Systems Technology Division, 2005 Annual Meeting, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA).

She is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Greek Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
